We get this one all the time. Somebody’s standing at the vape shelf (or scrolling the menu at 11pm), and the options just keep going: carts, disposables, live resin, distillate, half-gram, two-gram. If you’re wondering how to choose a vape without a chemistry degree, this is the short version we give our own customers.

Cart vs Disposable — What’s the Real Difference?

A cartridge is the refill: a 0.5g or 1g tank that screws onto a battery you keep. Cheaper per gram over time, easy to rotate flavors. One battery, endless carts. Our cartridge shelf is where most regulars end up eventually.

A disposable (or AIO — all-in-one) works straight out of the box. No battery to buy, no settings, nothing to learn. Modern ones recharge over USB-C, so you actually finish the oil instead of throwing away a half-full pen. For beginners or travel, honestly, just get a disposable — browse the vape pens and pick a flavor that sounds good.

Live Resin vs Distillate

This is the part people overthink. Distillate is refined THC oil — strong, consistent, usually cheaper. Live resin is made from fresh-frozen plants, so the strain’s real terpenes come through. Translation: live resin tastes like the actual strain, distillate tastes like whatever flavor was added.

Is live resin worth the extra money? If you care about flavor — yes, noticeably. If you mostly care about effect per dollar, distillate does the job fine. There’s no wrong answer here, despite what the internet says.

Indica, Sativa, Hybrid — Same Rules as Flower

Vapes are labeled like everything else. Indica for evenings (King Louis XIII pods are our go-to recommendation there), sativa for daytime, hybrid if you don’t want to think about it. New to all of it? Grab a hybrid.

A Word About Potency

Most vape oil tests somewhere between 80 and 95% THC. That’s a lot stronger than flower, and it sneaks up on people because vapor feels so smooth. One small puff, wait ten or fifteen minutes, then decide. That habit will save you from a rough afternoon.
